Introduction

Our client is a global leader in poultry breeding, supplying breeding stock to poultry producers around the world. They are committed to animal welfare, biosecurity, and sustainable farming practices. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to join their team at one of their regional New South Wales operations.

About this role

Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Assistant Farm Manager will support the day-to-day management of the farm, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, productivity, biosecurity, and staff supervision. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a team-oriented agricultural environment and is looking to further develop their leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily farm operations, including livestock care, feeding, and environmental management
  • Support staff supervision, training, and scheduling
  • Monitor flock health, welfare, and performance, escalating issues as required
  • Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate farm records and assist with reporting
  • Assist with maintenance of sheds, equipment, and farm infrastructure
  • Step into farm management responsibilities in the Farm Manager's absence

Is this you?

  • Previous experience in poultry, livestock, or intensive animal production (preferred)

  • Strong understanding of animal welfare and biosecurity practices

  • Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work weekends and public holidays on a rotating roster

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

  • Leadership potential and a willingness to learn and grow within the role

  • Relevant agricultural qualifications are advantageous but not essential
