A few of the specifics

A Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) allows employers to sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position which they are unable to find a suitably skilled in-country candidate. Under the 482’s Short and Medium Term Streams, workers aligned with over 100 professions on the Skilled Occupation List can work in Australia for 2-4 years.

The On-Hire Labour Agreement allows the employer to hire workers through a third-party labour hire arrangement. This agreement typically involves a worker being hired by one company (the provider of the 482 On-Hire Labour Agreement) and then ‘on-hired’ to another client company. The client company benefits from skilled overseas workers without needing to directly sponsor them, as the labour hire provider is the formal sponsor.

The agreement ensures that both the employer (the labour hire provider) and the client are compliant with Australian immigration and employment regulations. The employer ensures the worker's visa conditions are met, including compliance with the correct occupation, wages, and working conditions.
