Introduction

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer to lead feasibility and concept studies focused on decarbonisation and innovation. This is a Perth based role on a 12 month contract.

What are you going to do

  • Study Delivery: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of feasibility and concept studies aligned with organisational sustainability goals.
  • Governance & Reporting: Implement structured study governance, maintain quality and assurance standards, and prepare documentation to support investment decisions.
  • Innovation & Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies for technical and commercial potential, recommending suitable pilots and implementation pathways.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define scope, review progress, and integrate study outcomes into broader business planning.
  • Commercial Impact: Deliver studies that drive insights into capital efficiency, cost optimisation, performance improvement, and emissions reduction.
  • Risk & Dependency Management: Identify and manage study risks and interdependencies, developing and tracking mitigation strategies.
  • Modelling and Analysis: Lead financial and technical modelling to assess study costs, profitability, assumptions, and key performance metrics

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Proven experience delivering feasibility and concept studies in mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial decarbonisation technologies and electrification pathways.
  • Skilled in multi-disciplinary project engineering, structured planning, vendor engagement, consultant management, and early contractor involvement.
  • Proficient in developing business cases (IRR, NPV, TCO) to support investment decisions.
  • Experienced in technology evaluation, study methodologies, and understanding of Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) and associated risks.
  • Familiar with mining, energy, and heavy industry operations, with strong commercial awareness and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Exposure to integrating digital and AI tools to enhance study evaluation and decision-making.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and influencing skills across all organisational levels, including senior leadership.
  • Strategic mindset with high analytical and problem-solving ability; adaptable to fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
