Introduction

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer to lead feasibility and concept studies focused on decarbonisation and innovation. This is a Perth based role on a 12 month contract.

What are you going to do

Study Delivery: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of feasibility and concept studies aligned with organisational sustainability goals.
Governance & Reporting: Implement structured study governance, maintain quality and assurance standards, and prepare documentation to support investment decisions.
Innovation & Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies for technical and commercial potential, recommending suitable pilots and implementation pathways.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define scope, review progress, and integrate study outcomes into broader business planning.
Commercial Impact: Deliver studies that drive insights into capital efficiency, cost optimisation, performance improvement, and emissions reduction.
Risk & Dependency Management: Identify and manage study risks and interdependencies, developing and tracking mitigation strategies.
Modelling and Analysis: Lead financial and technical modelling to assess study costs, profitability, assumptions, and key performance metrics

Essential skills and knowledge

Degree in Engineering
Proven experience delivering feasibility and concept studies in mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
Strong knowledge of industrial decarbonisation technologies and electrification pathways.
Skilled in multi-disciplinary project engineering, structured planning, vendor engagement, consultant management, and early contractor involvement.
Proficient in developing business cases (IRR, NPV, TCO) to support investment decisions.
Experienced in technology evaluation, study methodologies, and understanding of Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) and associated risks.
Familiar with mining, energy, and heavy industry operations, with strong commercial awareness and external stakeholder engagement.
Exposure to integrating digital and AI tools to enhance study evaluation and decision-making.
Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and influencing skills across all organisational levels, including senior leadership.
Strategic mindset with high analytical and problem-solving ability; adaptable to fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
