The Brunel Foundation is a catalyst for change. We are committed to raising awareness, fostering engagement, and activating Brunellers around the globe to create meaningful and lasting impact—driven by sustainable choices and actions that benefit both people and the planet.
To support this mission we defined three focal areas: Cultivating a Greener Future, Building New Habits and Inspiring Future Professionals.
Cultivating a Greener Future
The Brunel Foundation is dedicated to protecting nature, restoring balance, and boosting biodiversity.
Through Trash ’n Trace clean-ups, we help ecosystems recover while inspiring global employee action for a cleaner planet. We organize events in Brunel regions and public spaces to promote environmental awareness and shared responsibility.
In partnership with EcoMatcher, the Brunel Foundation Forest supports reforestation, combats climate change, and encourages sustainable corporate gifting by planting and donating trees. Together with employees, clients, and communities, we turn small actions into lasting impact - for a greener future.

Making sustainable choices in our professional and personal lives comes down to one simple principle: Building New Habits.
Our mission to raise awareness, engage, and activate people worldwide to adopt these habits — step by step, one at a time. The collective impact of the small, daily changes we make is significant, shaping a healthier environment on a global scale.
Through our global and local initiatives, such as upcycling, sustainable corporate gifting, sharing best practices in resource use, and waste reduction — we encourage employees and partners to embrace more responsible ways of working and living.

Inspiring Future Professionals
Through partnerships and support from Taylor Hopkinson, the Brunel Foundation is on a mission to spark curiosity and creativity in children, showing them the exciting world of renewable energy, future industries, and tomorrow’s jobs.
Through hands-on, accessible workshops - indoors, outdoors, and at special events - we give future professionals the chance to explore, experiment, and imagine their role in building a sustainable future. Every child deserves the opportunity to dream big, think green, and see themselves as part of the transition to a brighter, greener future.

Community Activation
The Brunel Foundation is an employee engagement initiative that empowers Brunellers to take action, give back, and make a positive impact — together. Through the foundation, employees are encouraged to connect their passions with purpose, using their skills, creativity, and energy to drive meaningful change worldwide.
The Brunel Foundation Community are motivated Brunellers who lead by example — inspiring colleagues to get involved, start new projects, and support causes that matter. Acting as ambassadors and key points of contact within the organisation, the community members help spread awareness of the Foundation’s initiatives, encourage participation, and share best practices across teams and regions.
Looking Back, Moving Forward
Doing good, together. That’s exactly the goal Maritska Aarts and Femke Dijkstra had when they won an internal ideas contest in 2012. Their idea, the Brunel Foundation, became a reality thanks to their passion and dedication and the hard work and support of volunteer Brunellers around them.
Founders Femke and Maritska take us back to where it all began and reflect on the journey that brought the Foundation to where it is today.
