Introduction

On behalf of our client, a High Profile Company in the Energy Resources sector, Brunel is presently recruiting a Senior Tax Advisor. You will be responsible for providing expert tax advice and support to the business, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations and optimising the Company's tax strategy. This position will initially be on a contract basis with a possible view to permanency located in the Perth CBD.

What are you going to do 

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns including corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax and other relevant taxes
  • Assist in the preparation of tax provisions and related disclosures for financial statements
  • Provide tax-efficient strategies for corporate structuring, financing, and business operations to support the Company's initiatives while minimising tax risks
  • Advise on the tax implications of cross-border transactions including transfer pricing, tax treaties and managing risks related to international tax compliance
  • Identify, assess and manage tax risks, ensuring compliance with both local and international regulations and internal policies
  • Assist in tax due diligence and structuring of acquisitions and joint ventures
  • Liaise with tax authorities in various jurisdictions
  • Maintain accurate records of tax advice, transactions, and correspondence for audit and compliance purposes
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations in the Energy sector
  • Provide ongoing support and advice to internal stakeholders on tax-related matters

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Accounting / Finance, Law or a related field
  • Masters OR Professional CTA, CPA, ACCA is preferable
  • Previous experience in Tax Advisory role, preferably within the Energy Oil & Gas industry sector
  • Proficient in Tax Laws and regulations with a focus on corporate tax, indirect tax (VAT/GST), transfer pricing, and cross-border tax issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax issues and provide solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing tax compliance and advisory related work
  • Experienced in Tax Compliance software and MS Office Suite, particularly in Excel for financial modeling and data analysis
  • Previous experience with international tax regimes is desirable
  • Proactive work attitude and solutions oriented
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to ethical tax practices and compliance with relevant laws and regulations
