Introduction

Brunel Energy is looking for Senior Financial Analyst to join our team in UAE. We are a leading provider of Engineering and Technical Services to the Oil and Gas Industry.

What are you going to do 

  • Focal point of contact for the business on all budget, forecast and actual queries, ensuring that accurate Activity Based updates are provided to the Finance Manager for review at pre-agreed schedules;
  • Act as the Business Partner for the area responsible for by understanding the business and supporting analytical and reporting matters;
  • Review and analyze the costs of the department to enable month end reporting to be completed. This involves supporting the Accounting Team Lead/Accounting Team for posting of accruals and checking and confirming completeness of all projects and activities in month;
  • Maintain cost reports for both Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operating Expense (OPEX) projects by attending cost review meetings with the business/departments to challenge the spend and ensuring completeness of reporting;
  • Review variance analysis against budget/forecasts and flag required changes to forecast based on business/department activities;
  • Seen as the first point of contact for all analytical requests for the department;
  • Oversee the production of Departmental Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) and Project costs validating spend to budget;
  • Provide support to Accounts Payable team for resolving complex dispute invoices, by close interaction with the business and vendors;
  • Organize and participate in regular inventory/stock checks at all locations where stock is held (including third party storage);
  • Present Business/Departmental performance updates to the Finance Manager/Executive Leadership Team (ELT) member as and when required;
  • Support the Finance Manager in managing finance related matters within the assigned department;
  • Support coordination and compilation of Business/Department Annual Budgeting Process. Including but not limited to financial analysis and presentation to Finance Manager / ELT as required. Ad Hoc requests as needed/requested by the Finance Manager / ELT;
  • Work with the Contracts and Procurement team to ensure that all new contracts are included in Oracle and filter into revised forecasts and AFE’s.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree a plus;
  • Professional Qualification: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance or working towards a similar qualification preferred;
  • 8+ years' experience in a similar role and similar sized organisation;
  • Experience in an Industrial environment; Oil and Gas experience highly preferred, ideally within Operations/Exploration and Production environment;
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, preferably Oracle;
  • Relevant experience in audit and costing advantageous.
