Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a team working in an ore processing facility for a leading iron ore company in the Pilbara. This exciting FIFO opportunity from Perth offers both 2:1 and 2:2 rosters, allowing you to contribute to the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the facility's operations. The role is a 6-month contract with the potential for extension based on operational needs and performance.

What are you going to do 

As a Mechanical Fitter in the Ore Processing Facility, you will focus on the maintenance, repairs, and inspections of fixed plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, screens, and pumps. This role involves performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure the equipment operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall reliability and productivity of the facility.

Duties:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on fixed plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, screens, and pumps
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimise downtime and ensure operational efficiency
  • Conduct regular inspections of processing equipment to identify potential issues and maintain optimal performance
  • Assist in the installation and assembly of new machinery and components, ensuring proper alignment, balance, and calibration
  • Adhere to all site safety protocols and procedures, including lockout-tagout (LOTO) and safe work permits, to maintain a safe working environment
  • Participate in risk assessments and toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety
  • Provide support during scheduled plant shutdowns for maintenance and upgrades, working collaboratively with other trades to complete tasks efficiently
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks performed, including work orders and inspection reports, and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding repairs and additional requirements

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Australian Trade Qualification as a Mechanical Fitter
  • Valid Driver's Licence (C class)
  • White Card
  • Current Manual C-Class Driver's Licence
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry tickets
  • High Risk Work Licence with EWP, Forklift, and Dogging/Rigging endorsements (desirable)
  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Demonstrated processing experience in Mining
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and report on maintenance activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm
