Introduction

Brunel is currently seeking an experienced corporate health and safety lead to provide critical support to our client's health and safety department. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Health and Safety, the position focuses on health and safety reporting, improving data systems, and managing projects that align with their strategic goals. Key responsibilities include developing H&S plans, improving incident and risk management systems, and supporting the implementation of health and safety programs at corporate offices.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Build strong working relationships with sites and cross-functional teams to coordinate functional reporting and lead aspects of system needs for safety, hygiene, health and wellbeing.
  • Prepare key H&S reports and presentation materials for internal and external partners, including reviewing data trends
  • Develop tactical H&S plans and implement improvement projects in areas including data capture and visualization, corporate reporting, processes to support fatal risk control, risk management, assurance, and integration of H&S management systems
  • Build and improve incident, action and learning management systems and related assurance processes. Facilitate ICAM incident investigations as needed
  • Support development and maintenance of data standards and global process mapping to support consistent application of enterprise resource planning and software systems
  • Develop processes to facilitate effective annual planning and monitoring in support of delivery against the H&S strategy for the corporate H&S team
  • Support organizational change through the execution of H&S related communications plans to ensure key partners remain informed and supported through implementation of improvement initiatives
  • Provide key H&S leadership and support for their corporate offices
  • Develop and report on functional H&S training needs and execution

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in a health and safety or relevant business analyst role. Occupational H&S diploma, degree or equivalent is an asset
  • Qualifications as a Lead Auditor in ISO45001, ICAM Facilitator or similar is an advantage
  • Exposure to enterprise-level H&S data systems or other similar data systems
  • Experience working in high-risk industries such as mining, processing/smelting and/or oil and gas
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to present information clearly and consistently to all levels of the organization
  • Shown ability to comfortably navigate and use proprietary and data analytic software platforms
  • Excellent proficiency in the Microsoft Suite® of applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, PowerBI, and Power Apps, alongside the basic application of AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT
  • Ability to work effectively in a flexible and dynamic environment with remote team members
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to consolidate and report large data sets to identify short and long-term trends and insights for analysis and informed decision-making
  • Comfortable with technology and adept at using data analysis tools and software
