Introduction

We are currently seeking an experienced Cost Analyst to join a leading project delivery team based in the Perth CBD, with occasional site travel. This role will report to the Senior Project Controls and is responsible for delivering proactive cost and change management support across a portfolio of major mining projects.

About this role

As a Cost Analyst, you will be in charge of overseeing cost control activities and ensuring the effective management of project budgets, forecasts, and reporting. You will work closely with contractors, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely cost information is provided to support project decision-making.

Duties:

  • Update and maintain cost management systems, including PayApp processing and invoice checking
  • Reconcile monthly costs between internal systems and SAP
  • Track and reconcile indirect costs including flights, accommodation, and timesheets
  • Ensure correct facility and commodity coding is applied
  • Raise Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) and support RFAs and contract variations with cost data
  • Assist with monthly forecasting, trend analysis, and contingency management
  • Support capitalisation and raise project cost transfers as required
  • Manage and monitor the cost control shared mailbox
  • Provide detailed cost analysis and reporting, including commentary on variances and trends
  • Develop and update project cashflow forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with internal project control standards, systems, and procedures
  • Maintain data integrity across integrated project cost reports
  • Collaborate with planning, contracts, and estimating teams to assess change impacts
  • Communicate cost implications clearly to stakeholders and contribute to informed decision-making
  • Analyse and report changes against the Integrated Control (IC) or annual plan vs forecast
  • Provide technical cost support to internal project teams and stakeholders
  • Deliver independent assessments of project package progress and estimate at completion

Is this you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying
  • 5 years of experience in project controls, cost analysis, or similar functions
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a cost-focused role on a large project
  • Demonstrated experience working on large-scale mining projects, managing multiple project packages concurrently
  • Advanced skills in cost management systems and reporting software
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data validation and cross-checking across platforms
  • Experience with SAP, including cost data extraction and reconciliation
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines
  • Collaborative team player, comfortable engaging with stakeholders across all project levels
  • Valid Western Australian Manual Driver's Licence
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a National Police Check (NPC) and pre-employment medical
