Introduction

This role supports rig operations by handling rig moves and transportation needs with a high level of skill and experience. The point of hire is Toowoomba, QLD, with work on remote sites. The position follows a 3/3 roster, offering a great work-life balance. Candidates will be directly employed on a Casual basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent role.

What are you going to do 

The Truck Driver plays a crucial role in supporting rig operations by safely and competently transporting trailerized rig components in both single and road train configurations. Responsibilities include operating loaders for loading/offloading trucks, managing rig site logistics, and performing general duties as directed by the Truck Pusher, Rig Manager, or Driller. The role also involves conducting routine servicing and maintenance of trucks and trailers while supporting a preventative maintenance system.

Safety is a key focus, requiring participation in safety meetings, fire and safety training, first aid, and medivac procedures. The driver must have a thorough understanding of rig emergency signals, hand signals, and safe equipment handling procedures. Adherence to Load Restraint practices, QA and HSE policies, and company work procedures is essential.

Additional duties include performing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, reporting unsafe conditions, and contributing to departmental improvements. Flexibility is expected, as there may be times when overtime is required to meet operational demands. The Truck Driver will also work towards maintaining Training Matrix compliance in line with organizational KPIs.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • 5 years transport/truck driving experience (preferred)
  • 2 years road train experience preferred
  • MC License
  • CPR Fire Awareness
  • Senior First Aid
  • DCGI
  • Front End Loader Ticket
  • 4x4 Operate Vehicles in the Field
  • Hazard Recognition Program/JSA
  • Permit to Work Holder Rev 3
  • Certificate III in Driving Operations
