Introduction

Brunel has partmered with a leading gold producer with a strong presence across Australia is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to join its site-based team in regional New South Wales. With a focus on long-term investment and operational growth, the site offers modern facilities, community-connected living, and a stable future through to 2040 and beyond.

What are you going to do 

This is a key opportunity to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of Capital and OPEX projects across fixed plant infrastructure, including structural refurbishments, mechanical upgrades, and new installations such as pump stations and major steel repairs. Duites include:

  • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to technical and safety standards
  • Scope and manage infrastructure upgrades across plant and processing areas
  • Develop conceptual designs and feasibility studies
  • Coordinate schedules and shutdown planning in conjunction with maintenance teams
  • Supervise contractors and internal project teams
  • Drive safety and statutory compliance across all phases of project delivery
  • Prepare documentation including risk assessments, change management processes, and internal audits
  • Manage project costs, track budgets, and oversee procurement activities using systems like Pronto
  • Ensure all documentation, registers, and drawings remain up to date
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders in maintenance, operations, safety, and environment
  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff where required

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline)
  • 5+ years of experience in project engineering within mining, heavy industry, or infrastructure
  • Strong project lifecycle knowledge - from concept through to commissioning
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and contractor supervision experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project planning software (MS Project or similar)
  • Solid understanding of risk, compliance, and statutory regulations in mining environments
  • Ability to thrive under pressure with excellent attention to detail and organisation
