We are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer - FlameSaf to join one of our leading multinational clients and their expanding team. This position is based in Chennai and offers an excellent opportunity for experienced proposal management professionals in the Conventional Energy sector.

What are you going to do

Position: Mechanical Engineer - FlameSaf

Contract: Permanent Role.

  • Responsible for creating BOM for orders by including pre-existing components from product’s parts list to the bill of material, following technical data provided in the approved data sheet for the order.
  • Allocating the corresponding manufacturing drawings for production of non-stock items of the bill of material.
  • Preparing Supplementary Requirements Sheet as applicable for orders that contain nonstandard requirements and or testing.
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings for components needed to produce products with nonstandard configurations.
  • Support Engineering with schedule type drawings for components and assemblies needed for certification of new and existing products.
  • Prepare order specific manufacturing procedures for approval, including Painting, Handling and Storage, Preservation, Factory Acceptance Test, Dye Penetrant, Packing, Positive Material Identification procedures, among others.
  • Prepare Sales Step Files for orders using existing product 3D models.
  • Prepare Approval Drawings for orders according to approved data sheet details.
  • Maintain database of part numbers for Engineering parts, by revising existing part numbers and create new ones as necessary for producing orders and maintain product’s Engineering database.
  • Prepare and revise IOM for existing products and variations as required.
  • Preparing 3D Models of Stream-D Product from existing 3D Assembly model for CFD Analysis, and Co-ordinate with the CFD engineer to get the flow results of the product.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Desirable - Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficiency in parametric 3D Modelling (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Catia, Pro-E or equivalent) essential.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) or SolidWorks DraftSight or equivalent essential with knowledge of GD&T, dimensioning and layout for mechanical parts and assemblies’ drawings
  • Knowledge of mechanical fasteners, their types, applications and sizing.
  • Knowledge of popular material grades for mechanical constructions for pressure holding items in carbon and stainless steel, ASTM or EN.
  • Knowledge of traditional mechanical manufacturing processes, such as turning, milling, drilling, tapping, reaming and welding.
  • Familiarity with traditional welding techniques such as MIG & TIG and welding symbology on manufacturing drawings for preparing adequate manufacturing drawings for welded constructions
  • Familiarity with traditional casting methods such as sand casting and investment casting for preparing adequate manufacturing drawings of cast components
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault would be advantageous.
