Introduction

Plastic Free July® is all about making small changes and choosing to refuse the single plastics we use every day. An easy place to start? A beeswax wrap!

If beeswax and wraps sound a little weird and you just raised your eyebrows, then keep on reading because you might “bee” surprised.

Beeswraps are reusable food wraps, designed as an excellent substitute to non-eco-friendly disposable plastic cling wrap, aluminum foil or plastic lunch bags. They last for one year and are biodegradable at the end of their life. You can easily fold the beeswraps around a bowl, piece of cheese, sandwich or fruit. You can also be creative by folding your own lunch bag.

The wraps are made of 100% organic cotton, certified beeswax, organic coconut oil and tree resin. These ingredients provide an antibacterial effect. Beeswraps use the natural power of beeswax to protect and store your food (except raw meat) in a safe way as a plastic wrap alternative.

Since beeswax is waterproof, it keeps unwanted moisture out of food while trapping the food’s natural moisture in. Its antibacterial and antifungal properties keep bacteria and germs at bay while its all-natural and non-toxic features mean that, unlike chemical-filled plastics, it’s safe to have close to your food. Just clean it with cold water and a little soap. Once washed, your beeswrap needs to air dry and it’s good to go again.
