Instrument Supervisor

The Instrument Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing all instrumentation activities within the LNGPP 230 Relocation Project. This position is responsible for supervising the installation, calibration, and commissioning of various field instruments and control systems, ensuring that all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in strict accordance with engineering specifications and industry standards. The role requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams, including construction, quality, engineering, and HSE, to support the successful delivery of the project's instrumentation scope. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in large-scale oil & gas or LNG projects, with a strong technical background in instrumentation and proven leadership capabilities in field supervision and commissioning.
Supervise the installation, calibration, and testing of all field instruments including pressure, temperature, level, and flow devices, as well as control valves and transmitters.
Monitor day-to-day site activities related to instrumentation to ensure adherence to project specifications, drawings, and schedules.
Coordinate and lead instrument technicians and subcontractors to ensure efficient and safe execution of work.
Ensure all instrument work is conducted in compliance with project HSE standards and permit-to-work procedures.
Review and interpret instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, loop diagrams, cable schedules, and installation details.
Plan and organize loop checking, functional testing, and pre-commissioning activities in collaboration with commissioning and QA/QC teams.
Perform site inspections to verify the quality and progress of instrument installation work and report discrepancies or delays.
Liaise with engineering, vendors, and procurement teams to resolve technical issues and ensure timely delivery of required materials and documentation.
Maintain accurate daily progress reports, test records, red-line markups, and punch list items.
Support the QA/QC team in inspections and ensure all testing activities are witnessed and signed off according to ITP (Inspection Test Plan).
Assist in the preparation and execution of instrument commissioning, including DCS/PLC integration and system readiness checks.
Identify and troubleshoot issues during installation or commissioning phases and escalate when necessary.
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior instrument personnel as required.
Relevant technical certifications in instrumentation and control systems (e.g., calibration, loop checking, or DCS/PLC systems) are highly preferred.
HSE certifications (e.g., AK3 Umum, Basic Safety, Confined Space, Working at Height) are an advantage.
Minimum 9 years of experience in instrumentation fieldwork, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role on oil & gas, LNG, or petrochemical construction projects.
Proven experience in supervising installation, calibration, testing, and commissioning of field instrumentation and control systems.
Familiarity with instrumentation work scopes in brownfield or relocation projects is preferred.
Strong understanding of P&ID, loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, I/O list, and control system architecture.
Competent in instrument loop checking, field wiring verification, and troubleshooting of instrument systems.
Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA, and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).
Knowledge of international codes and standards such as ISA, IEC, API, and relevant project specifications.
Ability to interpret and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and project drawings.
Strong leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to manage multi-cultural field teams.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with site teams, contractors, vendors, and client representatives.
Willing to be placed at site location (remote area) on a rotation basis if required.
