Our client is a leading mining organization with a strong focus on safe, efficient, and sustainable operations. The Quality Manager leads the development and implementation of the project's Quality Management Plan and provides functional alignment with the organization's quality and risk governance group.

About this role

Reporting to the Project Director on the Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension Project, the Quality Manager will lead the development and implementation of Teck's Quality Management Plan. The role will also have a dotted line to the Projects group functional Director, Quality, Risk and Information Manager.

The Quality Manager must provide leadership and direction required to ensure compliance with all required corporate standards during the initiation, development and completion of each phase of the project.

You are risk-minded and passionate about applying quality management practices to drive project success. You are also an example of effective relationship building and stakeholder management through transparency, trust, and respect, and are comfortable making recommendations to all levels of the organization.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, who has strong critical thinking capabilities with the ability to work across a broad range of project disciplines and navigate between internal and external project partners.

This is a site-based role (rotation)

Is this you?

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in major mining project or equivalent capital-intensive industrial or infrastructure project (e.g. railways, ports, manufacturing, processing plants, etc.).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Risk Management and Quality Management on major capital projects.
  • Degree in engineering, business administration, or other related discipline.
  • Expert knowledge of delivery models for large construction projects and the integration or application of risk and quality management practices on those delivery models.
  • Expertise in developing project quality management plans and conducting audits from varying perspectives, i.e. owner, service provider, or contractor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking (both qualitative and quantitative).
  • Facilitation experience is an asset.
  • Expert knowledge and application of project risk management practices.
  • Experience working within an Owner's team is an asset.
  • Formal training in ISO 31000, ISO 9001, other risk and quality management certification an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook / Word / Excel / Visio / PowerPoint) and SharePoint
