Introduction

Our client, a leading tier one resources business, is seeking an experienced Contracts Administrator / Contracts & Procurement Specialist to support a major projects portfolio across tendering, procurement, post-award administration and contract close-out.

What are you going to do

Working within a major projects environment, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of complex construction, procurement and services packages. You will be responsible for managing tendering and contract administration activities, providing commercial advice, and helping to drive value across multiple work packages.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Contracts and Procurement, this role will suit someone who understands the demands of large-scale capital projects and can work effectively across engineering, legal, project controls, logistics and quality functions to ensure strong commercial and contractual outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate and evaluate tender packages for construction contracts, procurement activities and services
  • Support contract and procurement activities across all stages of the project lifecycle
  • Negotiate contract terms, conditions and pricing to align with project budget and schedule requirements
  • Conduct tendering activities in accordance with established procurement and contracting plans
  • Prepare well-written, structured contract and procurement documentation to support project delivery
  • Identify and maximise cost-saving and value improvement opportunities
  • Provide reports, recommendations and commercial advice to support contract and procurement decisions
  • Identify and assess key pre-contract risks, engaging technical, legal and other stakeholders where required
  • Maintain procurement and contract records and generate reports to support compliance and governance requirements
  • Manage post-award contract administration, including notices, correspondence and close-out activities
  • Develop detailed pricing schedules, method of measure and rules of credit
  • Review and assess payment claims, variations and extension of time claims
  • Interpret construction programs and assess contractual entitlement matters
  • Mentor and support junior team members
  • Work collaboratively with the broader project team to deliver value through competitive sourcing and effective contract management

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Solid experience in contract administration within major projects
  • Demonstrated exposure across the full project lifecycle, ideally from early-stage development and tendering through to execution and close-out
  • Strong experience within mining and/or oil & gas infrastructure projects
  • Background in mining, civil construction, SMP and EIC works
  • Proven capability in tendering, procurement, contract negotiation and post-award contract administration
  • Strong understanding of pricing schedules, payment claims, variations and extension of time claims
  • Excellent commercial acumen and the ability to manage multiple packages in a fast-paced project environment
  • Strong written communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills
