What are you going to do

  • During Engineering phase:
    • Review engineering documents and make sure they are coherent and in line with Company expectations.
    • Participate in the redaction of HSE procedures related to Fifi organization management (daily operation, rounds, maintenance activities, material and equipment use,...) and ERP (emergency response plan)
    • Define fire trucks for LNG/condensate/gas plant, launch call for tender.
    • Define all equipment and tools necessary for the fire brigade including rescue, launch procurement.
    • Liaise with the Maintenance Engineering contract and teams to ensure spare part definition for fifi equipment and maintenance programs
    • Define training program for fire fighters, especially Mozambicans.
    • Recruit Fire Fighting team with majority of Mozambicans.
    • Define firefighting new training facility at site.
    • Liaise with Exxon LNG for sharing resources and equipment.

  • During Operation phase:
    • Plan Firefighting activities of Moz LNG Site to provide the team with activities guidance that matches company objectives, budgets and schedules.
    • Review and evaluate Firefighting Brigade response actions and trainings, provide minimum requirement based on internationally accepted codes and standards that are required to ensure and validate capabilities & readiness of the equipment, systems & Brigade.
    • Responsible for the application of the HSE Policy and HSE national regulations in its areas of activities
    • Manage Supervisors, Leaders and Instructors under his responsibility with advice and guidance in solving technical problems with FPS & FFE, and manage behavioral issues within the Fire Section with a view to building a cohesive team able to respond to a variety of emergencies.
    • Ensure all procedures, safety precautions and safe work practices are well implemented for each work and activities in his area of responsibility.
    • Ensure training for Fire Fighters and MzLNG personnel, in Firefighting / Rescue / HSE modules is implemented & followed.
    • Oversee daily fire training operations and give expertise on maintenance, Fire Protection System (FPS) & Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE).
    • Organize and conduct firefighting, rescue and physical fitness exercises to maintain and improve readiness, skills and fitness levels within the Fire Section.
    • Ensure that all the firefighting equipment and vehicles are in good operating condition and that all planned and required maintenance or repairs are performed.
    • Take the Incident Commander position as the first arrival on scene in case of Fire, emergency, or "Search & Rescue" operations.
    • Participate in investigations of fire and emergency response incidents / accidents involving Company and Contractor personnel and equipment.
    • Motivate, develop and evaluate subordinates to ensure they have the knowledge, expertise, behavior and competency which is in accordance with requirement and able to support the achievement of target.
    • Timeliness and compliance of quick and proper action for emergency response situations as a target, to prevent loss of life and property damage.
  • Activities
    • Review engineering documents.

  • Context and environment
    • Localization: Milan for Engineering phase, then Afungi Site in rotation
    • Production 13 MTPA LNG, Condensate 4 Mbbl/year
    • Budget (Opex) responsibility of $5 Million/year

  • Accountabilities
    • Preparing all trucks and equipment's for fire brigade
    • Recruiting and training fire brigade
    • Managing the fire brigade when plant is in operation

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Qualifications/Experience required
  • Qualifications:
  • A Level in Engineeringg, technical disciplines or relevant in-house technical training program.
  • Firefighting either in civil or army.

  • Experience:

+20 years of solid experience in the relevant field
