Introduction
We are hiring a Senior Shops Technician for a leading petrochemical company in Qatar. The role involves valve and PSV/PRV overhauling, testing, pressure testing, workshop maintenance, and fabrication work to support safe and reliable plant operations. Candidates with experience in Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, or Oil & Gas industries are encouraged to apply.
What are you going to do
- Perform overhauling, inspection, testing, calibration, and repair of PRVs, PSVs, and other industrial valves.
- Carry out hydrostatic, pneumatic, and pressure testing in accordance with company procedures.
- Support fabrication, welding, and workshop maintenance activities.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and workshop tools.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and engineering drawings.
- Prepare equipment for maintenance, shutdown, and turnaround activities.
- Ensure proper use of spare parts, tools, and testing equipment.
- Maintain records of valve testing, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Use SAP PM to receive, update, and complete maintenance work orders.
- Follow Permit to Work (PTW), HSE procedures, and company safety standards at all times.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions in the workshop.
- Support supervisors in daily workshop operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with maintenance, production, reliability, QA/QC, and technical teams to ensure safe and reliable plant operation.
Essential skills and knowledge
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, Chemical, or Oil & Gas plants.
- Hands-on experience in PSV/PRV and industrial valve overhauling, testing, and maintenance.
- Experience in hydrostatic, pneumatic, and pressure testing.
- Good knowledge of workshop maintenance, fabrication, and mechanical repair activities.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and engineering drawings.
- Experience supporting plant shutdowns and turnaround activities.
- Working knowledge of SAP PM is preferred.
- Good understanding of HSE standards and Permit to Work (PTW) procedures.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
