Introduction

  • Provide Process Engineering subject matter expertise in Studies, FEED, Detailed Design / phases of the Compression project.
  • Leads the process engineering discipline activities for the assigned project (greenfield and brownfield scope).
  • Ensures that technical requirements (e.g. basis of design, simulations, reports, studies project specifications, data sheets, etc.) developed during FEED fully comply with project requirements.
  • Provides Process Engineering direction, guidance and leadership to Compression project PMT and CONTRACTOR(s) for fieldwork within the assigned area.
  • Develop fit-for-purpose process / technical engineering definition of surface facilities.
  • Effectively collaborates and interfaces with Project team, Contractor, company stakeholders as required to ensure that the Topsides and facilities scope of supply is fully integrated and optimized.
  • Provides oversight of the Contractor team and timely review and approval of project deliverables within project budget and schedule.
  • Technical evaluations of multiple tenders for large, capital projects, including risk-based evaluation of complex technical issues, which may have a significant commercial impact on project execution, ensuring they are compliant, technically qualified, and consistent with project requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of Qatari employees.
  • Ensuring optimal delivery of Process engineering deliverables related to Topsides / Pipelines/ Surface Facilities with much of the work involving close collaboration with Contractor/s.
  • Effective stewardship of Contract/s, ensuring Contractor/s and delivers Process engineering design in accordance with project requirements, from contract award until delivery of Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC).
  • Risk based evaluation of complex technical issues that may have significant commercial impacts to overall project execution.
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment on overall delivery of the Topsides/ Pipelines /Facilities.
  • Interface with other Projects and existing facilities
  • Maintaining constructive and positive working relationship with Contractor/s to ensure delivery of Engineering per plan and in accordance with project/s requirements.
  • Works effectively within established policies and procedures and participates in the further development of these to meet changing needs.

What are you going to do 

  • Advises the Head of Process and supports the various Compression project(s) in all Process Engineering discipline related matters. Shall be flexible and team orientated.
  • Supports PMT Engineering in monitoring the Contractor’s progress on delivery of the required documents in the Process Engineering disciplines.
  • Provides Process engineering leadership and expertise while supervising and administering Process team.
  • Review and approval of contractor engineering deliverables/ simulations/ calculations, study reports and etc.
  • Performs process engineering studies, calculations, simulations, develop Basis of Design, Technical notes, adequacy assessment and etc. to support the project scope
  • Plans and schedules the Process engineering deliverables to enable efficient project execution, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with operational policies, standards of business conduct and project management system.
  • Maintains close liaison with appropriate members of Engineering Teams and gains alignment with the Engineering Manager on project engineering needs, objectives, and requirements.
  • Leads/Participates in key design workshop and ensure that Process design recommendations are correctly implemented and actions closed (Design Review, Lessons Learned, Value Engineering, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, engineering criticality assessment, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts with respect to the disciplines involved in delivery of the Process Engineering and ensures endorsement of Process Technical deviations to Company specifications when required.
  • Ensures quality assurance of the Process engineering activities deliverables is in accordance with the approved project execution schedule.
  • General understanding of multi discipline engineering (mechanical / piping / instrumentation / etc.) and ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contributes to the development of Tender package development and technical evaluation.
  • Accountable for being knowledgeable of lessons learned from previous projects with the same contractor and capturing and communicating Process engineering and design lessons learned for the current project.
  • Ensure compliance with management of change procedures for changes in the Contractors design or deviations from the Company directives
  • Assesses Contractor capability and recommends additional technical support to address gaps
  • Accountable for ensuring execution of work is technically aligned and in compliance with company Operations, Policies, Standards of Business Conduct and Project Management System.
  • Mentor and contribute to the development of Qatari employees

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Chemical/Process engineering.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years oil and gas process engineering work experience of which a minimum of ten (10 years) of relevant experience and 5 years in the similar position.
  • International project experience with Contractors or Client, involved in the projects executing large offshore platforms (i.e. greenfield and brownfield work), pipelines and onshore.
  • Sound knowledge of the project execution process in large-scale project environments (expenditure >US$ 1 Bn).
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of:
    • Oil and gas offshore projects (greenfield and brownfield) Engineering
    • In depth knowledge of Process engineering design
    • Design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
    • Offshore facilities design, construction, and operations
  • Execute work in full compliance with Standards of Business Conduct and Project Management System
  • Strong organizational, management, and technical judgment skills
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • Make decisions in the general interest while pursuing business results
  • Prepare contingency plans for the unexpected (pro-active, forward-looking)
  • Proactively and continuously grow technical expertise in Facilities engineering disciplines
