Introduction

Our Tier 1 mining client based in Perth CBD is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to lead the development of sustainable mining infrastructure, with a focus on decarbonising rail transport. This is a key role in driving innovation, sustainability, and emissions reduction within mining operations.

What are you going to do 

Role:

  • Lead design of sustainable mining solutions focused on rail decarbonisation.
  • Contribute to carbon reduction strategies and evaluate alternative technologies.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate decarbonisation into mining and rail systems.
  • Stay updated on sustainable tech, carbon capture, and rail decarbonisation trends.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring sustainability, timelines, and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and industry standards.
  • Conduct impact studies on energy use, carbon footprint, and feasibility.
  • Engage with clients, government, and stakeholders to drive sustainability goals.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Analytical, design, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in project management and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Knowledge of sustainable mining technologies, environmental impact assessments, and green energy solutions.
  • Familiarity with international regulations and decarbonisation policies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for mining and infrastructure projects.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mining, Civil, or Environmental Engineering. A Master's degree in Sustainable Development or a related field is a plus.
