Job Title: Piping Inspector

Location: Port Arthur, TX

Duration: 1 year W2 contract w/ benefits & PTO

Primary Purpose:

Gathers and analyzes NDE data to support the business, proposed projects, and system requirements. Identifies testing scope and implementation plans using defined QA processes and methodologies on a consistent basis. This position will be located at site in Port Arthur, TX.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a high level of safety by leadership example in daily activities and by being familiar with internal and external safety practices, procedures, acts and regulations.
  • Implements the project audit schedule for all multi-disciplinary systems, products and/or processes on the construction task force including the contractors' organizations at the jobsites.
  • Assists the QC Manager in the development and review of the project Quality Program documentation manuals, work processes and reporting of quality records management of quality documents.
  • Assists the QC Manager in developing a jobsite orientation program to ensure the project team is familiar with the requirements of the Project Quality Program.
  • Prepares and issues welding/mechanical audit reports noting welding and mechanical installation non-conformances and verifying effective corrective/preventative actions.
  • Delivers audit assessment findings to QC Manager and evaluate the need for any corrective / preventative action. Follows up with audit findings including, corrective/preventative actions.
  • Assesses sub-contractors' capabilities to meet the quality requirements of the project as required.
  • Oversees as-built drawing preparation. Maintains the record document set of project redlines. Completes the "as-built procedure" by providing redlines to Engineering at the end of the project.
  • Performs of all inspection and testing activities as defined by contract. Assures that the contract obligations' for testing and record keeping are adhered to.
  • Controls calibrated measuring and test equipment used on the project. Keeps calibration records and ensures that all testing equipment has current calibration records.
  • Ensures proper turnover of complete quality control package(s). Ensures that turnover documentation is maintained, organized and turned over on schedule.
  • Maintains project quality records for the construction phase of the project and quality audit plans, performance and management thereof.
  • Assists QC Manager to establish and manage a field document control system for construction drawings, specifications, test and inspection reports, vendor data and as-built drawings.
  • Work with and manage 3party NDE inspection and testing contractors.
  • Participates in audit schedules and shop inspections with the onsite EPC Contractor and with major shop fabricators.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent of education and/or experience required.

Experience

10+ years of related experience, including at least 8+ years of quality systems experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong working knowledge and understanding of regulatory structure, agencies and requirements in the U.S.

Experienced in QA/QC policies, procedures and standards in natural gas process operations.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in general construction of major project facilities
  • Experience in monitoring contractors QA/QC performance.
  • Ability to read and understand design drawings including process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, vendor drawings, pipe routing drawings and schematics.
  • Computer skills, including spreadsheet, database, word processing and presentation software.
  • Level 1 or 2 QA/QC certificate is a plus.
  • CWI License is a plus.
