Introduction

Brunel has partnered with a well-established mining company to recruit for a key role in an exciting open-cut coal project. Offered on an 8/6 roster to support work-life balance, this FIFO position from Brisbane includes meals and accommodation. As a Mining Engineer, you'll play a hands-on role in short-term mine planning, operational coordination, and drill and blast optimisation.

What are you going to do 

In these roles, you'll lead planning, designing, and optimizing open-pit operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective resource extraction while maintaining top safety and environmental standards.

  • Conducting short-term mine planning activities, including developing designs and schedules to meet contract objectives.
  • Building strong relationships by collaborating with operations teams to execute effective plans, schedules, and designs.
  • Delivering precise plans to operational teams and tracking their progress against project benchmarks.
  • Providing strategic insight to optimise and monitor drill and blast processes.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • A degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in mining operations, preferably with exposure to open-pit coal mining.
  • Expertise in mining software such as Surpac, Vulcan, AutoCAD, SPRY
  • Strong focus on safety and compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
