Assume responsibility and represent the design department for all aspects related to Environment engineering.
Provide leadership and management to a team of engineers and technicians to deliver environmental services for major infrastructure projects including but not limited to roads, underpasses, tunnels, bridges, deep excavations, retaining walls, pump stations and other civil structures.
Provide direction, technical advice, training and mentoring to the team.
Review of Environmental Impact Assessment reports
Review of construction environmental management plans
Provide technical support to Management, and act independently as may be required under certain circumstances
Work within the department to identify concerns, areas for improvement, and then act to streamline processes
Continually seek and capture lessons learned from the process and use this intelligence to improve systems and tools
Liaise effectively with the Design / Supervising Consultants / Contractors on all environmental matters
Monitor policies and procedures and report any areas where improvement is required
Ensure Programme and Project wide compliance with environment legislation
Provide support for all environment related matters identifying trends, vulnerabilities and liabilities that can be avoided by preventive techniques and procedures and recommend necessary corrective actions and measures
Performance of actual duties as directed.
Performance of other related duties as per management instructions.
Essential skills and knowledgeÂ
BSc / BEng or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
18 years of demonstrable experience in dealing with major highway or infrastructure projects including construction as applicable to the nature of the works.
CEn, PE, PEng or equivalent Chartership is desirable.
Minimum demonstrable experience of 4 years as a Lead Environmental Engineer.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience with management capacity.
Very good knowledge of local and international environmental guidelines, legislation, and regulations
Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken
Qualification in project management is an advantage
