Introduction

On behalf of Woodside, we are seeking an Environmental Approvals Specialist to join their team in their Perth CBD office.

What are you going to do 

  • Provide analysis and advice on the impact of environmental regulatory developments to the business.
  • Develop and implement environmental approval strategies to effectively support Project activities.
  • Facilitate the scoping of environmental baseline and technical studies to support Project environmental risk/impact assessments.
  • Undertake assessment of environmental risk factors associated with Project activities, including physical disturbance, air/GHG emissions, noise, light, chemical discharges, produced water and invasive marine species to ensure they are reduced to ALARP
  • Lead engagement with environmental regulatory authorities to progress environmental risk/impact assessments and approvals.
  • Coordinate the integration of environmental approval inputs from internal support teams (e.g. Corp Affairs, First Nations, Climate).
  • Provide technical expertise to stakeholder engagement associated with environmental risk/impact of project activities.
  • Coordinate field and desktop environmental monitoring and compliance activities including analysis and reporting.
  • Coordinate environment input into key Project deliverables.
  • Coordinate the day to day tasks of a team of environment advisers supporting the Project.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of environment support to Projects through integration activities and sharing of lessons learnt.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering, Risk Management or a relevant degree
  • A perspective and understanding of oil and gas projects
  • Understanding and experience with Australian environment legislation and application, including ability to engage and influence key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with progressing primary environmental approvals for hydrocarbon projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
