Introduction

We are currently hiring an EHS Coordinator for our energy client. The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for promoting health, safety, and the work environment (EHS) to create a healthy and safe workplace for all employees. This is a 12-month contract opportunity.

What are you going to do

  • Act as a coach/mentor/resource for major EHS issues for the operation.
  • Coordinates environment, health and safety activities within the company, such as the health and safety committee and coordination.
  • Work with the union safety representative to investigate and monitor trends in accidents, incidents, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Act as a coach and advisor for management of the EHS (Health, Safety, and Environment).
  • Manage the reporting, investigation, and analysis program for events and assist in managing return-to-work processes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of various EHS programs and procedures (ergonomics, lockout/tagout, scheduled inspections, waste management and audits, etc.) and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Organize activities to promote employee awareness, increase participation, and encourage safe behaviors.
  • Maintain the EHS management system (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Ensures that key performance indicators (KPIs) are updated, monitored, and maintained, and ensures that measures are taken to improve EHS performance.

  • Must be bilingual, written and spoken in French and English.

  • Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environment, Health, and Safety and/or relevant certificate or diploma.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiar with laws, regulations, standards, and requirements of the CNESST that are applicable to the business.
  • Good knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position, unionized environment is a plus.
