Introduction

  • Accountable for handling distressed emergency calls, operating communication systems for Industrial cities’ Emergency Control Center (ERCC) and implementing emergency notification system as per Emergency Response Plan procedures.
  • The job requires flexibility, adaptability and willingness to perform calmly during difficult highly stressful situations

What are you going to do

  • Receive emergency telephone and radio calls in the assigned ERCC in Industrial Cities.
  • Collate information from callers about the nature of emergency, i.e. location, number of injuries and involved staff, etc.
  • Monitor automatic fire and gas alarms and respond appropriately to the signals received.
  • Activate emergency notification and call out protocol as per industrial city Emergency Response Plan (ERP) procedures
  • Dispatch the appropriate resources required to assist in ending and managing the incident, i.e fire, medical, security services
  • Generate shift log sheets recording all emergency communications including but not limited to recording of emergency vehicle, appliance movements and actions taken in response to emergencies.
  • Ensure ERCC equipment and communication systems are regularly inspected, serviced and maintained
  • Develop relevant and required statistical and management reports to enhance ERCC Operation

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Completed 12 years of education
  • Must have English L 5 and has to be bilingual (both Arabic and English required)
  • Must have strong communication skills, clear speech and professional telephone manners
  • Must remain calm and reassuring under pressure
  • Must be able to deal sensitively with staff and the public who might be under stress, upset or aggressive
  • Be interested in people's health care and safety
  • Must have a polite, friendly, efficient and helpful attitude
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to keep clear written records
  • Must have information and communication technology skills
  • Must pay attention to details
  • Must understand and follow sets of emergency procedures and us personal judgement where applicable
  • Be prepared to work shifts including nights, weekend and public holidays
