Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for a Senior Metallurgist for direct hire with our mining client located an hour East of Tucson, Arizona.

What are you going to do 

The Senior Metallurgist will oversee lab operations, provide technical assistance on new product and process development, design and complete metallurgical investigation and projects, and monitor quality control procedures. This role will serve as a technical expert on complex metallurgical issues, report findings, and make recommendations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform test and failure analysis with full data gathering, interpretation, and report writing, train and supervise junior levels in Metallurgy.
  • Consult with other operations team associates to determine the type of analysis required, obtain background information, and supply quotes for services to be performed.
  • Perform regular calibrations of lab equipment, update chemical and equipment inventories, assist with safety and quality audits.
  • Provide guidance on applicable regulations and contribute to strategic planning for metallurgical testing. Other duties as assigned.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related Engineering discipline and five (5) years of experience in Metallurgy or related Scientific field, OR
  • Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of experience in Metallurgy or related Scientific field
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods used in complex Metallurgical and processing analyses.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • May be required to periodically work varying shifts to include days, nights, and weekends.
  • This position is considered "Safety Sensitive" for purposes of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act and the Arizona Drug Testing statutes.
