Introduction

Brunel is proud to partner with a leading energy organisation to appoint an experienced Production Geologist to join their Brisbane-based Subsurface team. This is a key role in supporting a high-performing operated Coal Seam Gas (CSG) asset across well planning, reservoir characterisation, and field development.

What are you going to do 

  • Deliver high-quality geoscience input to support ongoing CSG well delivery, abandonment, and reservoir development.
  • Apply geological expertise in CBM reservoir characterisation, volumetrics, static modelling, and well/reservoir performance.
  • Generate reliable subsurface prognoses for safe and efficient operations.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary subsurface team to deliver FDPs, static models, and technical assurance packages.
  • Document evaluations in accordance with technical standards, ensuring consistent and reliable data handling.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Proven experience in production geology within CSG/CBM operations, ideally in the Surat Basin.
  • Strong skillset in lithostratigraphy, well correlation, volumetrics, and WRFM support.
  • Proficiency in Petrel is essential; Python scripting skills highly desirable.
  • Experience in planning/delivery of new and P&A wells within an asset team environment.
  • Strong collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate autonomously while contributing to larger technical and strategic outcomes.
