Introduction

What are you going to do 

Brunel is seeking experienced Heavy Machinery Operators to join the Haul Roads Project in Weipa. Successful candidates will operate Dozers, Excavators (Diggers), and Moxy Tippers to support earthworks, road construction, and material hauling. This is a FIFO role with flights provided from Brisbane or Cairns on a 2/1 roster.

  • Safely operate Dozers, Excavators, and Moxy Tippers to perform earthmoving, grading, and hauling tasks.

  • Conduct pre-start inspections and report any equipment defects or maintenance needs.

  • Follow project plans to ensure accurate cut/fill, levelling, and compaction of haul roads.

  • Work closely with ground crew and survey teams to meet construction specifications.

  • Adhere to safety protocols, including speed limits, load limits, and site traffic management.

  • Assist with loading/unloading materials and coordinating with dump trucks as required.

  • Maintain clean and efficient worksites, ensuring compliance with environmental controls.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • RII Tickets (Mandatory) for:

    • Dozer (e.g., RIIMPO323E - Conduct dozer operations)

    • Excavator (e.g., RIIMPO320F - Conduct excavator operations)

    • Moxy Tipper / Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) (e.g., RIIMPO337E - Conduct articulated haul truck operations)

  • Minimum 2+ years experience operating heavy machinery in mining or civil construction.

  • Ability to interpret construction plans and GPS machine guidance systems (preferred).

  • Coal Board Medical pr ability to obtain - mandatory.

  • HR Driver's Licence (highly regarded).

  • Willingness to work FIFO on a 2/1 roster in remote conditions.
