Introduction

Are you an experienced Automation Engineer ready to make a difference in the biotech industry? At the heart of our production facility in Leiden, you'll help ensure the reliable operation of cutting-edge manufacturing systems. This role offers you the chance to work on impactful automation projects with a clear focus on quality, innovation, and GxP compliance.

What are you going to do 

  • Design, implement and commission changes to Siemens PLC and SCADA systems used in production, in close collaboration with Vendors, Technical System Owners, and Business System Owners.
  • Manage external partners such as vendors, subcontractors, and system integrators throughout the automation change lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and execute automation changes within a team of engineers, ensuring alignment and timely delivery.
  • Prepare, execute, and review protocols, test plans, and validation documents to ensure proper functioning and regulatory compliance of automation systems.
  • Maintain and update life cycle documentation in line with compliance standards.
  • Develop and update SOPs and work instructions related to the automation systems.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree (HBO) in Industrial Automation or a related engineering field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in the biotech industry, including working knowledge of GAMP standards.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal) and SCADA systems (Wonderware).
  • Strong understanding of control philosophy and the ability to write functional requirement specifications.
  • Solid knowledge of P&IDs and industrial instrumentation/control equipment.
  • Good command of both Dutch and English, in writing and speech.
