Introduction

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Repairs Centre in Perth - a dedicated component rebuild workshop where precision and quality drive reliability.

About this role

As a Mechanical Fitter in our Repairs Centre, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient rebuild, overhaul, inspection, and repair of heavy mobile equipment components. Your work will directly support the mine site operations by ensuring the highest levels of quality, reliability, and availability.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Disassembly, inspection, repair, and assembly of components (e.g. final drives, pump drives, brake packs, wheel hubs) to OEM specifications.

  • Precision measurement using micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and torque equipment.

  • Fault finding, root cause analysis, and feedback to reliability teams.

  • Accurate documentation of inspections, job records, and QA/QC processes.

  • Active participation in continuous improvement initiatives - safety, quality, cost, and efficiency.

  • Mentoring apprentices and less experienced team members when required.

  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.

Is this you?

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated experience rebuilding heavy mobile equipment components in a workshop environment (mining or heavy industry).
  • Exposure to OEM rebuild standards, tolerances, and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong understanding of OEM manuals, specifications, and rebuild procedures.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems in heavy mobile equipment, plus workplace health and safety requirements.

Skills:

  • Ability to strip, inspect, measure, rebuild, and test components to specification.
  • Competent with precision measurement tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, fault-finding, and root cause identification skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals.
  • High attention to detail, quality focus, and accurate documentation.
  • Effective communication and team collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Australian recognised trade qualification - Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent).
  • Current high-risk work licences (e.g. forklift, dogging) - desirable.
