Introduction

What are you going to do 

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee production and operational activities for shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore equipment, dredging, and heavy engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations across workshops, fabrication facilities, assembly yards, and project sites while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations across production facilities, fabrication workshops, assembly areas, and project sites.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor production schedules, manpower allocation, and resource utilization.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining quality, safety, and cost objectives.
  • Manage fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, outfitting, testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
  • Monitor production KPIs, productivity, utilization, downtime, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies, ISO standards, marine classification society requirements, and offshore regulations.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, procurement activities, inventory control, and logistics planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop production supervisors, engineers, technicians, and workshop personnel.
  • Drive operational excellence by improving production efficiency, reducing rework, minimizing waste, and optimizing processes.
  • Support tendering activities by providing execution methodologies, resource planning, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare operational reports, budgets, forecasts, and performance updates for senior management.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and availability of workshop equipment, fabrication facilities, and production assets.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Participate in strategic planning and support future operational expansion and business growth initiatives.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Marine, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  2. 20+ years of experience in Shipbuilding, Ship Repair, Offshore, Marine, Dredging, or Heavy Engineering.
  3. Strong experience in production, operations, fabrication, and workshop management.
  4. International shipyard or production experience outside India is mandatory.
  5. Good leadership, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Knowledge of HSE, quality standards, and marine industry practices.
